The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System® encourages the adoption of sustainable green building and
development practices through: creation, implementation of
universally accepted tools, products and performance criteria. LEED is a third-party certification program and an internationally
accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high
performance green buildings. It provides building owners and operators
the tools they need to have an immediate and measurable impact on their
buildings’ performance, promoting:

- materials selection
- indoor environmental quality

promoting products and services that promote sustainability. Green Seal standards provide criteria and guidelines for manufacturers,

The Alberta Construction Safety Association is a non-profit organization funded and directed by industry. The Association consists of construction industry volunteers supported by a team of professionals based out of offices in Edmonton and in Calgary. Established in 1916, SAIT provides career training to more than 70,000 registrants by 1,900 faculty and staff with a budget of $215 million. The Calgary HandiBus Association is a not-for-profit organization providing transportation services to people with disabilities. Today, they provide approximately 40,000 trips per month serving the 17,000 Calgarians registered with Access Calgary. A staff of over 170 union and non-union employees utilize a fleet of 115 specially equipped vehicles, providing close to 500,000 trips a year. Union employees include operators, preschool attendants, mechanics, caretakers and service staff. Non-union staff represent 13 of the 170 plus positions.
