Servpro’s Green Cleaning Program Acclimatizes to LEED 2012 Changes.

Servpro’s Green Cleaning Program can assist with LEED certification, helping to accumulate up to 14 points. If you haven’t already heard, LEED has announced their revised system, coined LEED 2012, will take effect in November of this year. This will bring changes to our current clients and future clients. The new system's goal is to decrease the perception of being a one-time assessment certification program, and be known for certification through sustainability with continual assessments.

FastCompany.com recently released an article confirming rumors that the LEED system is about to undergo a significant transition from one-time assessments to continual assessments to obtain certification. This transition will greatly affect how points are awarded for green cleaning programs. Talks of ½ points have also been rumored. LEED 2012 certification is believed to soon reflect how buildings are actually saving energy and water, and take into account the improvements they are implementing to ensure on-going performance and measurement of buildings energy and water use.

Servpro is monitoring these changes, and once LEED 2012 is released, we will be adjusting our Green Cleaning Program accordingly. Our efforts will be to maximize point accumulation for our clients, while reducing our water usage and saving energy. Our Green Cleaning Program will change as LEED 2012 shifts occur, including items such as increased credit categories, going from seven to ten, and increased prerequisites, jumping from nine to fifteen.
